Ponant will ramp up its internationalisation programme following the completion of its acquisition by Artemis.
The company will also look to consolidate its position in France, Switzerland and Belgium as a result of the sell off by former owners Bridgepoint.
Jean-Emmanuel Sauvée, co-founder and chief executive of Ponant, said: “In the last three years, together we have launched and financed new ships, opened new offices in Australia and China, and acquired a leading player in the American cultural cruise market.
“Today we are entering a new phase with a long-term shareholder who, like Bridgepoint, shares our vision and ambitions for Ponant as a global player in the high-end cruise market.”
The polar specialist was founded in 1988 and is expected to carry nearly 30,000 passengers in 2015, with turnover topping €145 million.
With new backing comes new opportunities so it will be interesting to see what Ponant does next
