Sun Princess, which is under construction in Italy and is due to enter service in 2024, will be able to accommodate 4,000 guests and will be Princess’s first to be powered by liquefied natural gas – with a further 10 LNG ships to follow.
Princess said the ship’s design embraced its Italian heritage featuring a newly-designed piazza and "cutting-edge entertainment space", The Dome, inspired by the terraces of Santorini. Its inaugural Mediterranean season is on sale now, with the ship due to overnight in Southampton over 22-23 September 2024.
Speaking at a launch event in London in December, Princess vice-president UK and Europe Eithne Williamson promised there would be opportunities for agents to get onboard.
"We will be doing something for our frontline agent partners onboard [Sun Princess] so they can experience her," she said. "We hope travel agents are as excited as we are to have Sun Princess based in the Mediterranean for her inaugural season in 2024."
The Princess Arena is the line’s newest theatre design, featuring a central stage and three configurations – including an in-the-round configuration able to accommodate just over 1,000 people.
The Horizons Dining Room, meanwhile, stretches from deck six to deck eight, with each deck characterised by different dining experiences and levels of formality. It will offer wake views, with natural light illuminating a three-storey decorative sculpture.
