Virgin Atlantic has hailed the return of “frictionless” travel to the US after the announcement that Covid rules are to be relaxed.
President Biden has declared he will not extend the Public Health Emergency in the US that is to expire on 11 May.
The decision removes the vaccine requirement for foreign visitors who arrive by air from 12 May, meaning those who refused the jab can travel to the US once again. Those aged 17 and under have been exempt from the vaccine requirement.
A Virgin Atlantic spokesperson said: “The relaxation of the vaccination requirement for foreign nationals removes barriers for frictionless travel to the USA, our heartland for nearly 40 years.
“It will give a boost to transatlantic customer demand as a busy summer approaches.”
