Nats computer systems failed on Monday (28 August) amid the busy bank holiday getaway, temporarily grounding all UK flights. The issue was resolved later in the day, but the knock-on effect of the disruption is ongoing a full week later.

Ryanair said on Monday (4 September) it was forced to cancel more than 350 flights over 28-29 August, impacting 63,000 passengers.

In total, Ryanair operated more than 103,000 flights in August, carrying 18.9 million passengers – up 11% from 16.9 million a year earlier – on a load factor of 96%, level with August 2022.
