Sandals Resorts has appointed industry veteran Gebhard Rainer as chief executive in a bid to grow the brand outside its traditional Caribbean base.

Rainer will report directly to Sandals chairman Butch Stewart and deputy chairman Adam Stewart. He has previously worked in global operations and international finance, notably with Hyatt Hotels, where he was executive vice president and chief finance officer.

Butch Stewart described his new recruit as “a team player and goal-focused with a management style that matches the brand’s culture and is compatible with its ‘team first’ approach”.
