The £400 million expansion of the Port of Aberdeen will help boost the number of vessels able to visit the north east of Scotland in 2023.

Scottish port's £400m expansion plan to boost country's cruise calls

More than 25 cruise calls are currently scheduled at the port from April to September, with up to 12,000 tourists set to visit the region.

The first call to the new Aberdeen South Harbour will be Aida Aura on 28 April, which can carry more than 1,200 guests.

The new development – which is scheduled for completion in Q2 2023 – will allow the port to welcome larger vessels as well as smaller ships.

Teams from the Port of Aberdeen and major cruise lines, such as the Carnival Group, will take part in reciprocal training and familiarisation visits this year.
