Shapps clarified the rules following confusion about the status of children travelling from the UK when rules change.
The Department for Transport said: “If you’re under 18 and from the UK or one of the other over 50 countries that we recognise vaccination status, you will not have to do pre-departure testing from 4 October and will also be able to do a lateral flow test rather than PCR when that change comes into effect by the end of October.”
The DfT added: “They will not need to self-isolate, as under 18s from the UK or one of those 50 countries are treated as a double vaccinated person would be.”
