New social enterprise travel agency Charitable Travel has enlisted a personal trainer and nutritional therapist to host a daily online workout and wellness session for travel industry and charity sector workers.
Anyone can sign up to the Joe Wicks-style Weekday Wellness sessions (which comprise a workout followed by wellness and nutrition tips), for which TTG Media is media partner, which are free of charge. A donation of £10 per week to registered charity The Mintridge Foundation is encouraged.
Charitable Travel has also teamed up with with Charity Today and Atlantic City USA to deliver the sessions, which are hosted by Jenny Tomei and held over Zoom three times a week at 8am.
The Mintridge Foundation is dedicated to enhancing life skills in young people through sport.
A Charitable Travel spokesperson said its aim was to “truly help society and our community at large” by supporting the work of charities “always but now at a time when they have never needed us more”.
Charitable Travel’s wellness ambassador Tomei is a qualified personal trainer and nutritional therapist.
Each weekday session will be “fun and flexible for all abilities and all levels of fitness”, from beginners and up. For those who want more of a challenge Tomei will give techniques to make it tougher. “Of course, this is a workout, but do not worry about it being beyond your reach,” she said.
The session will involve a full body workout, including all major muscle groups to keep a good balance.
All of the activities will initially use body weight only, so no equipment is necessary. This type of workout will use lots of energy, burn more calories, and will be a journey to improving fitness.
During the warm-down Tomei will cover a weekly collection of ideas and tips about diet and nutrition. These will be recapped on a weekly newsletter that all attendees will be sent during Friday.
The daily programme will comprise:
• 5 minutes of introduction, a recap of the focus and a full body warm up.
• 30-minute body exercise routine, no equipment needed.
• 10 minutes of warm down with nutrition, wellbeing tips, advice, and ideas.
