With Peter Gregory, senior PR and marketing executive for El Gouna by Orascom Developments, easyJet holidays’ head of trade distribution, Natasha Marson and TTG Media’s Charlotte Cullinan.
Charlotte: Welcome to our latest In The Spotlight video with El Gouna and easyJet holidays. Peter, let’s start by introducing El Gouna. Give us a bit of a flavour of the destination.
Peter: Hi, of course, El Gouna is a brilliant destination located on the Red Sea of Egypt, just outside Hurghada. It’s 30 minutes north. It’s got 18 world-class hotels, over a hundred bars and restaurants, nine paddy diving centres. It’s lagoon-based, so there is azure water everywhere. There’s golden sandy beaches and year-round sunshine. So it’s pretty delightful. It’s like Mediterranean Riviera meets Egyptian weather. Pretty different to other places for sure.
Charlotte: Oh that sounds incredible. Thank you. And Tash, could you tell us how clients can easily reach El Gouna with easyJet holidays?
Natasha: Absolutely. And it’s gorgeous. Every word that Peter has spoken is true. It’s so easy to reach El Gouna with easyJet holidays. It’s never been easier. We have got fabulous direct flights, which take about five hours from the UK from eight of our regional airports up and down the map, which is great.
And after a short, 30 minute transfer from Hurghada International Airport – it’s just easy peasy.
And a fun fact for everybody out there, if you don’t already know this, we are actually the number one tour operator for Egypt with more flights than anyone else at the minute, which is great. Brilliant.
Charlotte: Thank you. And let’s talk about what clients can do in the destination. Peter, what are the highlights?
Peter: So plenty of highlights. I could probably yap for about two hours, but we’ll keep it short. It’s like a split between the Red Sea and the desert. So Red Sea – there’s nine paddy diving centres, nine kite surfing centres. It’s one of the best places in the world to dive and kite surf. You can do dolphin cruises, you can go on catamarans.
Opposite way, going out into the desert, you can have Bedouin tours. There’s dune buggying, there’s quad biking. You can sit at sunset taking in the landscapes and learning about Egyptian culture and heritage in Aluna.
There’s lagoons to take advantage of you, can kite, paddle all around those.
But getting around El Gouna is a massive highlight. You get around in tuk tuks, they’re easily accessible everywhere in the town and you just jet around the town. They are about 50 Egyptian (EGP), which is 80p to go anywhere in the town. So super easy and so fun as well. The tuk tuk drivers are hilarious.
Charlotte: Brilliant. Thank you. And what about foodies? Are they well catered for?
Peter: Oh, foodies, they feel at home here. One of the best things to do on holiday is to eat your way through a destination. You’ll find local delicacies, you know, Egyptian classics with a Lebanese twist, but also you’ll get that international cuisine. So wherever palate you’re going for, you are going be catered for.
There’s fine dining at the Chedi’s Nihon – they’ve got two awards for Best Menu and Best Chef this year in Egypt.
Or if you’re wanting that real local cuisine, then go down to Cook’s Club and sit lagoon-side, it is got a mixture of everything and we have a winery as well, so you can get El Gouna’s own wine that you can only taste in the town, and it is delicious.
Charlotte: Thank you. And Peter, staying with you for a moment, tell us about your training programme.
Peter: Yes, so we’ve recently launched an AI-powered platform. This is your one-stop-shop for all information. Anything you want to know about El Gouna, it is on here. It is www.elgounaspecialist.com.
It’s got everything, it’s got five modules from an introduction, to about our properties, to about the dining and what you can do. And then also once you’ve done that, you can talk to an AI coach, ask them questions, they’ll give you information, and then role play as if you’re talking to a customer.
Once you completed that – you’ve got do it asap – you can get in with a chance of coming on our next fam trip, which is scheduled for Q3. Everyone loves a fam. It’s going to be four nights, one of the best hotels. You’ll be going out on the Red Sea out into the desert, trying all the gorgeous food.
Don’t hesitate at all. Get to that platform now and get it done.
Charlotte: Brilliant. That sounds incredible. Thank you. And Tash, is there anything else that you’d like to add?
Natasha: Wow. Thank you Peter, for just bringing El Gouna to life. I love it so very much. Yeah, just thanks for sharing all those fabulous key unique selling points about a gorgeous destination.
We are really supportive of El Gouna. You’ve got a great low deposit if you book with easyJet holidays, guys. All of those routes from all of those eight UK regional airports to choose to fly from and to, which is great.
I think my last comment would be, everybody get that training locked in fast, start booking easyJet holidays to El Gouna. And really best of luck to everyone who enters the competition. Fingers crossed guys. Thanks Charlotte.
Charlotte: Thank you so much, Peter, Tash, that was brilliant. It just sounds like such a fantastic destination.
Peter: It’s one-of-a-kind.
Charlotte: And thank you for watching our In The Spotlight video about El Gouna.
Peter: Thank you. See you soon.
