Members of the Unite union earlier this year voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action after rejecting a new pay offer worth 7.5% that also included a one-off payment of £250.
Unite members at Stansted include firefighters, security officers, cleaners and passenger ambassadors.
Fresh talks, though, were held after the strike ballot resulting in a new offer which will see Stansted’s lowest paid workers receive an 11% pay increase over the year, plus a £250 one-off payment. Other pay grades will receive a 10% increase along with the one-off payment.
Unite on Thursday (13 October) confirmed its members at Stansted had voted in favour of the new deal.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said it was an "excellent result" for the union’s Stansted members. "They forced the employer to return to the negotiating table and make an improved offer.
"Unite is now entirely focused on promoting the jobs, pay and conditions of its members, and this ballot result demonstrates this approach is delivering positive results in the workplace.”
The 10% pay increase consists of a backdated 8% increase from 1 April 2022 plus a further 2% from 1 October 2022.
