Next is Travelodge in 40^th place with sales of £432.6 million, an increase of 13%, generated by its 518 properties.

Rocco Forte Hotels take the 168^th spot despite only a 2% increase in sales to £185.4 million. However, profits were close to double at £22 million, an increase of 98%.

Park Resorts followed at 179 with sales of £178.9 million and an 8% increase in profit to £24.8 million.

Principal Hayley, which operates 22 city centre hotels and conference venues came in at 205 with a 25% increase in profit to £27.5 million off sales of £161 million.

In 230^th position lies JacTravel with a 22.2% boost in sales to £150.2 million while profits of £7.4 million represent growth of 81%.

The list was first published 10 years ago in 2005 and the company to take the top spot in this year’s list was household goods warranty specialist Domestic & General which saw a 10% increase in sales to £632.9 million and a 3% increase in profit to £73.6 million.

Other household brands to have made the list include Warburtons, Pret A Manger, Nando’s, Yeo valley and Charle Tyrwhitt Shirts.
