France’s ATCs had been due to walk out over 28-30 September.

However, France’s SNCTA union confirmed the strike had been called off after 48 hours of negotiations with public authorities, including France’s civil aviation authority.

France’s air traffic controllers play a uniquely important role in European air travel owing to the number of flights that rely on overflying French airspace.

A one-day walkout earlier this month affected more than 3,000 flights.

The union said it took its strike on 16 September to achieve a breakthrough, with the dispute centring around pay and bonuses.
