Social enterprise retailer Charitable Travel has begun a new campaign, Make It Count in 2022. It aims to bring together the two industries that have experienced some of the worst financial impacts over the last two years to assist one another in their recovery.
The pandemic led to one in 10 people donating less than usual, but one in four said they will now increase donations. Make it Count in 2022 encourages customers to combine the investment in a holiday with donating part of the cost to charity.
Charitable Travel is calling for operators, destinations and principals to share details of their charity partnerships or CSR initiatives to highlight some of the work the industry achieves.
Melissa Tilling, Charitable Travel chief executive, said: “The travel industry has a long tradition of supporting charities, but there is often little awareness of the worthwhile causes supported and achievements made. We know that every travel business or organisation has a charity close to their heart and we want to know who they are.
“Our aim is to establish an interconnected web between the charity community and travel world. Not only to amplify the message that travel can be a force for good, but to secure more revenue for both travel companies and charities alike.”
Each month, Charitable Travel will spotlight charities via the Charitable Traveller magazine, social media and digital channels, including the new Travel Insider podcast series.
In addition, Charitable Travel will launch an annual Made it Count award, the first of which will recognise companies which continued to support their charity and CSR partners during the pandemic.
