The country has stipulated UK visitors must use the EU Digital Covid Certificate or the Swiss version from 25 October in order to visit bars, restaurants, museums and other attractions.
The NHS app will still be valid for entry to the country, but not for domestic use.
The UK has yet to join the EU scheme, although it was said to be “on the brink” last month. Meanwhile, the Swiss version, costing SF30, is the only alternative from later this week.
A Switzerland Tourism spokesperson said: “The NHS app is still valid to enter Switzerland, but within Switzerland, if you want to access things like restaurants, museums, sometimes hotels, you will need a Swiss or EU certificate.”
An online application must be made, with processing taking “about five days”, the spokesperson said.
