Tui hotels across Europe are donating food, as well as cleaning, medical and PPE supplies, to charity and welfare organisations in communities supporting its holiday properties.
The holiday giant’s hotels and resorts have already distributed more than 25 tonnes of food to welfare organisations in destinations across Europe.
In Spain, Riu has donated 22 tonnes of fresh food to social and medical institutions, while Grupotels in Majorca has offered up delivery vans to help provide and deliver charity food donations.
Additionally, 40,000 gloves, 25,000 masks and 5,000 litres of disinfectant and cleaning supplies have been donated to combat the spread of coronavirus.
Tui Blue Schladming in Austria has supplied its local senior citizens’ centre with food, while Robinson Club Arosa in Switzerland has been supporting its local refugee home and has donated its reserve of disinfectants to a local retirement home and medical centre.
Elsewhere, Tui Blue and Robinson Club in Fleesensee, Germany, have donated surplus food supplies to socially and economically disadvantages people.
Robinson Club Esquinzo Playa in Fuerteventura has donated food to the Red Cross and to the food bank in Pajara.
Toscana Resort Castelfalfi in Italy has teamed up with the Italian Relief Corps of the Order of Malta to provide keyworkers in Montaione with face masks and other protective equipment, while holiday homeowners in Castelfalfi have helped a nursing home buy protective devices for residents and health workers.
Tui’s hotel employees, meanwhile, have been supporting the operator’s "staycation" campaign by sharing recipes from across the operator’s hotel network; offering language training and fitness tips; sharing skills such as dance workouts; and inspirational travel content from around the world from sunsets in the Maldives to the beaches and coastlines of Thailand and Fuerteventura, as well as Riu cocktail recipes.
New content, ranging from entertainment events, cooking classes and sporting activities, for adults and children, will be shared via Tui hotel brands’ social media channels.
