Queues stretched along the moving walkway leading into the building from dawn this morning, with the Manchester Evening News quoting one passenger saying they had waited two hours but had still not reached Tui’s check-in.
A Tui spokesperson told TTG: “We can confirm that unfortunately due to staff shortages at Manchester airport today, some customers are experiencing longer-than-usual queue times at check-in.
“Please be assured that our teams are working as quickly as they can.”
Tui added that it had contacted all customers due to depart in the next two weeks with advice on travelling, including potential wait times in airports.
Tui will open Day Before Bag Drop at Manchester on Easter Monday from 14.00 until 21.00 for flights departing before midday the following day. The facility will open at Gatwick at the same time and will be in use at both airports throughout the summer.
