Figures published by aviation analytics firm Cirium show that Friday (5 May) has reported 2,921 departures from the UK – the highest in over three years and 86% of pre-pandemic levels.
Data also showed that this weekend 10,962 flights are scheduled to take off from UK airports – respectively 10% and 625% up on 2022 and 2021 levels.
According to Cirium’s figures, Heathrow will be the busiest airport in the country with 2,556 departures scheduled. It will be followed by Gatwick, Stansted and Manchester with 1,499, 1,001 and 1,000 flights due to take off over the weekend.
