UK Outbound to meet following general election to plan lobbying strategy

The UK Outbound Group has called a meeting in September over concerns about “poor” understanding among government about how the travel industry works.

UK Outbound, led by Advantage, Aito and Abtot, has this week written to industry leaders inviting them to discuss the sector’s political engagement strategy post-election. UK Outbound represents more than 1,250 SMEs across the sector.

The meeting in central London takes place on Monday 16 September, 10 weeks after the election.
 
Speaking for UK Outbound, Julia Lo Bue-Said, Advantage Travel Partnership chief executive, said: “With the furore of a general election gripping the country, one could easily be under the impression that now is the time when the main parties unveil supportive measures that recognise the significance of the UK Outbound Travel sector.
