It comes as part of a network restructuring, which will see the airline focus more on its leisure offering.
Virgin announced on Friday (27 October) that four-time weekly flights to the Texas state capital will cease early next year, with the last service operating on 7 January.
Chief commercial officer Juha Jarvinen said the decision had been made after corporate travel demand softened to 70% of 2019 levels.
“We’ve adored flying our customers to Austin and experiencing this wonderful city of music and culture, but demand in the tech sector is not set to improve in the near term,” said Jarvinen.
Meanwhile, Virgin has ramped up services to Barbados, increasing the number of weekly flights to 14 between January and the end of March.
As part of the airline’s renewed focus, flights to Miami will increase to 14 from next summer, while services to Dubai will rise to four weekly from next winter.
“Demand for leisure travel shows no signs of slowing, so we are adapting our network to fly our customers to where they want to go, with more frequency on our popular leisure destinations to Barbados, Miami and Dubai throughout 2024,” Jarvinen added.
