Created by oil painter and muralist Jodie Herrera, the Latina mermaid will be at the helm of the 110,000-tonne, mid-sized vessel set to launch this August.
In a nod to the line’s Latin heritage, Herrera’s design was described as a "strong and powerful figure carrying sailors forward onto incredible adventures".
Inspired by the images painted on the fuselages of American WWII planes, Virgin Voyages’ mermaids are a "symbol of individuality and rebellion".
Due to sail its maiden voyage this August, Resilient Lady will depart Athens on a series of seven- and nine-night voyages. Among the ports of call are Santorini, Rhodes, Mykonos, Catania, Palma de Mallorca and Lisbon.
