The escorted touring specialist said Sharp was "well-known in the retail travel world" and would bring "a deep understanding of what agents need to close sales and grow their businesses" from her first-hand retail experience.
She joins the team as Wendy Wu’s newest sales support executive as the operator looks to build on a third consecutive year of double-digit growth in sales through agents and "surging demand for specialist touring".
"My background in retail means I understand the challenges agents face and the tools they need to succeed," said Sharp. "I’m excited to work closely with our agent partners to help them inspire customers, secure bookings and grow their sales with Wendy Wu Tours."
Wendy Wu’s head of trade sales, Gary King, said the operator was proud to be keeping a talented professional in the trade. "I know our partners will value her insight and support," he said, adding he expected Sharp to hit the ground running.
"Her experience with Baldwins Travel – one of the UK’s most respected agency groups – means she brings both exceptional skills and an insider’s understanding of the agent perspective."
King revealed the operator had also seen sales from the homeworking sector double, which now account for more than 15% of its total trade sales.
"We’re expanding our team to ensure agents receive the very best from us," he added. "Amy’s appointment is another step in delivering on that promise. She’s going to make a real difference."
Sharp will be based in Wendy Wu’s London office, working with the trade sales team to coordinate fam trips, manage agent events and respond quickly to agents’ day-to-day needs, serving as a first point of contact for many agents.
