Wizz Air has suspended all flight operations in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion of the country.
Russia carried out strikes on a number of military targets in Ukraine overnight Wednesday into Thursday (23-24 February).
Ukraine has closed its airspace as a result, and Grant Shapps has ordered carriers operating in the UK to avoid the area.
“Due to the current events in Ukraine and the airspace closure, Wizz Air regrets to inform our customers the airline must temporarily suspend all flight operations in the country,” said Wizz in a statement issued on Thursday morning.

The budget carrier added: "The safety and security of our passengers and crew remains our number one priority and we hope normality will to return to Ukraine soon."
