Wizz Air will transfer its routes operating from Doncaster Sheffield airport (DSA) to Leeds Bradford airprt next month, ahead of DSA’s planned closure.
Wizz announced plans to pull out of DSA earlier this year, with the airport’s fate sealed this week when owner Peel Group said the facility was no longer financially viable.
Operations at the airport will be wound down from the end of October, with Tui primed to shift capacity away from DSA to Leeds Bradford, East Midlands and Manchester airports. Tui managing director UK and Ireland, Andrew Flintham, branded Peel Group’s decision "incredibly disappointing".
Wizz’s flights to and from Gdansk, Katowice, Krakow, Warsaw, Wroclaw, Bucharest, and Cluj-Napoca will continue operate out of DSA until 30 October, after which time they will switch to Leeds Bradford.
"Customers booked to travel on those routes after 30 October 2022 will be automatically rebooked onto flights operating to Leeds Bradford airport and will be given the option to accept the new flight, change their booking to an alternative flight free of charge, or cancel their flight to receive a full refund to the original payment method or 120% in Wizz credit," said the budget carrier on Thursday (29 September).
