Velaa Private Island, in the Maldives' Noonu Atoll, has partnered with award-winning British children's entertainment company Sharky + George to launch an exclusive Kids Week from 3-9 August 2026.
Designed for children aged four and above, the seven-day programme combines adventure, creativity and experiential learning through a series of activities built around unlocking different "superpowers", including Curiosity, Focus, Energy, Strategy and Connection. The week culminates in an Ultimate Challenge, where children put their new skills to the test.
Founded more than 20 years ago, Sharky + George is known for creating immersive children's experiences for brands including Goldman Sachs and events at 10 Downing Street. Its approach is underpinned by its recently published white paper, The Transformational Power of Play, which explores how structured play develops creativity, resilience, confidence and social connection.
Activities throughout the week include science experiments, yoga, nature challenges, creative workshops, water games, interactive evening entertainment and a UV disco. World champion freestyle footballer Tobias Becs will also join the programme to host exclusive football sessions for young guests.
"At Velaa, we have always believed that exceptional hospitality means thinking about every member of the family. Together with Sharky + George, we are giving children something that goes far beyond a holiday activity. We are giving them a week that builds real skills, real confidence and real memories. The science of play is serious, and the programme we have built together is designed to send children home genuinely changed by what they experience on the island,” commented Mohamed Mausoom, General Manager of Velaa Private Island.
George Whitefield, founder of Sharky + George, added: "The science is unambiguous: well-designed play builds the curiosity, resilience and creativity children need. Velaa gives us the most extraordinary canvas we have ever worked with. The Indian Ocean, a private island, and a week to show children what they are truly capable of."
