Football fever swept the nation this summer, and Iberostar joined in the fun with the launch of its new Football Fiesta by Iberostar game for trade partners. The game has now closed, but read on to see what it involved. 

About Football Fiesta by Iberostar

There were four separate games, or "matches", which ran between 11 June and 19 July. It was a game of two halves, as each one tested agents on both their overall football knowledge, and their expertise on Iberostar hotels.

Match 1: The Warm-up, 11 – 20 June 

Agents played a game where they had to score a goal as many times as possible. They could play this game up to 20 times, to gather as many points as they could!   

Match 2: The Host Nations, 21 – 30 June

Agents could play a fun quiz to score points for their team!

Match 3: The Rookies, 1 – 10 July 

Agents had to impress Iberostar with everything they knew about its new hotels and renovations in this quiz. 

Match 4: The Global Stars, 11 – 19 July 

Agents could play this final quiz to score even more points! 

They could play each quiz once, and each one was only be available during the dates above. 

Of course, there were some top prizes up for grabs, including: 

1st place: The 11 top-scoring agents in the winning regional team won an incredible fam trip with Iberostar! 

2nd place: The 11 top-scoring agents in the team that came second each won 10,000 StarAgent points, which can be used to book personal stays at Iberostar hotels and resorts worldwide. Points can cover the full cost of a stay or be combined with cash for discounted rates.

3rd place: The 11 top-scoring agents in the team placing third each won 5,000 StarAgent points.

How to play

Agents from across the world played in regional teams. Those in the UK and Ireland were up against agents in other markets such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland; France; the USA; and Latin America.

Agents could score points for their team when they took part in the matches, so the more times they entered, the more chance the UK and Ireland had of winning! 

Capitalising on football fever

To ensure your clients didn't miss any of the big games while they're on holiday this summer, Iberostar had a strong line-up of activities planned. Matches were broadcast on a big screen in hotels in two different languages, and clients were able to enjoy a bar, drink and snack service. There was also team face painting, quizzes and activities for all ages pre-match, during the build-up and in half-time, and guests enjoyed daily activities and/or competitions, giveaways and more surprises.

As the matches took place across Canada, Mexico and the USA this summer, these brilliant destinations all expect to see a surge in interest from consumers. Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancún

Having opened in November 2025, this five-star newcomer offers an all-inclusive getaway just 20-minutes’ drive from Cancun International Airport, close to the fishing village of Puerto Morelos. Ideal for couples and families, it boasts a beachfront setting, five pools, six restaurants and four bars, as well as the popular Star Camp for children.

The resort features 444 spacious suites – all equipped with a jacuzzi – including family rooms, swim-up suites with direct access to semi-private pools, and oceanfront suites.
