Byway, which was founded in March 2020 by Cat Jones, has also revealed that 2024 bookings so far are already tracking at nearly a third for the whole of 2023, while sales between November 2023 and January 2024 were three times up year-on-year.
Byway’s itineraries centre around travel by rail, bus and ferry across Europe and this week it revealed its top three itineraries include a journey to Northern Italy, its Scottish Highlands on the Hogwarts Express route and a journey through the Alsace region.
The B Corp Certified organisation counts operators such as Kuoni and Intrepid as its partners, with a partnership with Exodus Adventure Travels announced in May 2023. Byway introduced carbon labelling on all its trips last October.
Jones said: “It’s wonderfully exciting to see flight-free travel truly taking off, so to speak. Interest in flight-free travel has increased significantly every year, but we’ve been blown away by the number of bookings we’ve seen in 2024 to date.
“It feels like a significant shift in the mindset of holidaymakers who are not only looking to cut their carbon emissions, but really falling in love with the journey itself.”
