Budget 2025: Industry blasts rising employment costs and warns measures risk talent vacuum

The travel industry has welcomed changes to business rates revealed in the chancellor's Autumn Statement, while voicing concerns about rising employment costs, taxes on UK breaks and limited opportunities for the next generation of travel industry leaders.

Abta chief executive Mark Tanzer described the move to support high street businesses, including travel agencies, through a lower level of business rates, as “very welcome”. However, Tanzer said Abta was concerned about the cumulative impact of taxes.
