In a note issued to the London Stock Exchange on Tuesday morning (25 August), easyJet and Apollo jointly confirmed that they have agreed to push back the deadline for the scheme document, which will set out further information about the acquisition.
The document had been due to be published within 28 days of the deal being agreed on 6 August. EasyJet and Apollo have now resolved to publish the document on or before 15 October ahead of key meetings to be held during the week of 9 November.
Together, EasyJet and Apollo said the extension would allow them to continue "constructive engagement with the relevant aviation regulators following the summer period". One of the hurdles Apollo faces is meeting an EU stipulation that the airline must be at least 51% European owned.
Both parties, though, have stressed the £7.15 per share £5.7 billion buyout is still expected to be completed "by the end of the first calendar quarter of 2027".
