North took time out from travel in October 2023 following a more than 25-year stint with technology supplier Vertical. He returned in February 2024 as chief executive of The Big Journey Company and its The Big Golf Company brand.
His next move sees him join B2B billing and settlement platform Travel Ledger as its new head of business development for the UK and Ireland. In his new role, Travel Ledger said North would strengthen its aims to expand further throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.
"He will focus on deepening relationships with travel suppliers, consortia, intermediaries and agency groups, while driving new business opportunities across the Travel Ledger eco-system," said the firm.
Travel Ledger has just launched an integration with Expedia TAAP, the OTA's trade platform, which it says enables fully automated virtual card payments for agents. It currently supports more than 2,300 companies across the UK, Ireland and Europe, processing more than £1.5 billion worth of transactions annually.
Founder Roberto Da Ra said: “Chris brings 30 years of travel industry experience. Combined with his energy and drive, we feel we can achieve our ambitious expansion plans across the UK, Ireland and Europe. We are investing heavily in our business and will continue to deliver reliable, ever-evolving technology."
North said he was joining at an "exciting moment" for Travel Ledger. "The combination of industry demand, new payment capabilities and strong momentum across Europe makes this a huge opportunity for the travel trade to modernise the way it manages financial operations," he added.
North is also a member of the Abta LifeLine board of trustees, and is one of TTG's Get Travel Talking champions.
