For example, customers looking to experience the country’s cultural wonders beyond Machu Picchu should consider exploring the Kuelap Fortress in the Amazonas, a pre-Incan ruin that has recently undergone restoration following its collapse. The ancient site has now returned to the visitor circuit, with a projected 80,000 visitors in 2026 – a 10-15% growth year-on-year.
Peru's new luxury offerings will also be showcased at WTM. This December, andBeyond will be launching the first-ever Peruvian Amazon River expedition yacht – The Amazon Explorer. The yacht will feature 15 spacious suites, a swimming pool, a pisco bar and more as guests sail through the planet’s most biodiverse ecosystem.

On the hotel front, the intimate Inkaterra Cabo Blanco, set in Peru's northern region of Piura, opened in March this year. Its 20 beachfront rooms and suites line the quiet, surf-friendly beach of Cabo Blanco, best known for being the inspiration behind Ernest Hemingway’s book The Old Man and the Sea.
In the capital, two Marriott International property conversions will also be complete by 2028. JW Marriott Hotel Lima will transform into the first Ritz-Carlton in Peru, while Lima Hotel & Convention Center will be reimagined as the JW Marriott Hotel Lima.
Gastronomy in Lima has also been gaining a reputation worldwide in recent years, with Maido named the World’s Best Restaurant in 2025. The city will be in the global spotlight once again this November as it hosts the prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurants ceremony.
"For the travel trade, the opportunity is clear – Peru is evolving beyond its best-known attractions," said Aldo Parodi, trade and economic counsellor of PromPeru.
"From emerging adventure experiences to lesser-known regions and wildlife encounters, there is more scope than ever to create unique journeys that align with today's traveller interests."
