Opening in 2027 is Oman’s first Rixos resort, based in the country's southern Dhofar region in the beachside city of Salalah – a 1.5 hour connecting flight from Muscat airport.
The 286-room Rixos Salalah will offer luxury, all-inclusive accommodation, blending Rixos’ renowned hospitality with Omani heritage. Accommodation highlights include ocean-view suites, multiple pools and kids’ and teens’ clubs.
Just a 45-minute transfer from Muscat, Anantara Resort Bandar Al Khairan is another premium coastal property set to open in 2027, with 121 rooms, chalets and villas overlooking the clear-blue waters of the Arabian Gulf.
Completing the line up of new high-end resorts is Club Med, opening in 2028. Located on the Musandam Peninsula – a one hour flight from Muscat on the northern tip of Oman – its 300 rooms will be designed to reflect traditional Omani architecture. Key selling points for customers include wellness experiences, adrenaline-pumping activities and gourmet dining.

Beyond hotel news, Oman will also be highlighting its partnership with the IRONMAN Triathlon Series, with IRONMAN taking place in December 2026 and the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in 2029. It will be the first time in IRONMAN's 50-year history that a world championship event will be held in the Middle East.
“Safe, welcoming and wonderfully diverse, Oman should be firmly on every travel agents’ radar for 2027,” said Oman Ministry of Heritage and Tourism's undersecretary of tourism, Azzan Al Busaidi.
“Over the coming year, I’m pleased to say, new hotel openings and exciting partnerships, including hosting the Ironman Triathlon Series will bring an even greater choice of things to do and places to stay.
He added: “This reflects our continued commitment to developing Oman’s tourism offer and giving travellers more reasons than ever to explore our beautiful country and discover why a visit to Oman is a gift for life – something that stays in the heart long after the journey ends."
