The new river brand plans to add 10 new ships over the next five years and double its European river fleet to 20 vessels by 2031.
Jason Liberty, Royal Caribbean Group chair and chief executive, said: "Guest demand for Celebrity River Cruises has exceeded our expectations, and expanding the fleet allows us to bring this highly anticipated experience to even more travellers.
“Whether guests already love the Celebrity experience or are discovering it for the first time, they now have new ways to enjoy it along some of Europe’s most iconic rivers."
He added: "With Celebrity’s expansion into river, we’re strengthening our connected vacation ecosystem, offering more choice, more access, and more reasons for guests to stay with us."
Celebrity River Cruises has also unveiled its 2028 itineraries, featuring more than 160 sailings to over 50 destinations across Europe. The 2028 programme is now available to book.
Among the highlights are six Lower Danube voyages, including itineraries from Bucharest which cruise through Serbia. The cruise line will operate between Regensburg or Nuremberg and Budapest, with select departures coinciding with the Gauboden Festival in Straubing.
Celebrity River Cruises is set to officially launch in 2027 with Celebrity Compass and Celebrity Seeker. These will be followed in 2028 by Celebrity Wanderer, Celebrity Roamer, and Celebrity Boundless.
The 2028 programme also includes more than 60 Rhine sailings, operating between Basel and Amsterdam and calling at destinations such as Strasbourg, Breisach, and Rudesheim.
Seasonal Dutch Tulip cruises will sail between Brussels and Amsterdam during peak spring bloom, with excursions to the Keukenhof Gardens, one of the world’s largest flower gardens, and the windmills of Kinderdijk.
Christmas Markets cruises will also return, offering sailings between Basel and Amsterdam with stops in Rhine Valley destinations including Mainz, Strasbourg, and Heidelberg.
“Our inaugural 2027 Celebrity River Cruises season sold out in under six minutes – a testament to how much guests value the unmatched hospitality and service Celebrity delivers,” said Laura Hodges Bethge, Celebrity Cruises president.
Celebrity River Cruises’ debut was met with mixed reactions from agents last year, with some telling TTG the line would face stiff competition from well-established brands such as Viking.
