The vessel will sail from Bonifacio this summer exploring southern Corsica and Sardinia before redeploying to the Caribbean in December where it will spend three months sailing the region through to April.
Built by Lagoon, the 24-metre long vessel has capacity for nine guests and four crew members – including the captain. There are four suites, all of which have en-suite facilities, as well as a large collection of water toys.
All departures onboard La Desirade will last either seven or 14 days, with agents able to tailor voyages to suit their clients. Guests can also request specific shore excursions and private tours, as well as bespoke experiences onboard the ship.
Anthony Daniels, Ponant general manager UK and Ireland, told TTG: "Ponant Explorations’ new catamaran, La Desirade, enhances the superyacht experience, offering flexible, intimate voyages tailored to high-net-worth travellers looking to explore extraordinary, and often off-the-beaten-path, destinations."
Daniels added that like its sister vessel, The Spirit of Ponant, La Desirade would offer and cater for fully customisable, private charter itineraries at €70,000 a week. This fee excludes taxes, charges and the clients’ choice of food and drink.
Olivier Narcy, Ponant Explorations chief sales and global customer relations officer EMEA, added La Desirade would allow guests to sail and drop anchor in places "inaccessible to most other ships".
The ship’s communal features include a large indoor lounge, two outdoor lounges, and an open-plan kitchen. There will also be outdoor trampolines and a rear deck at water level.
