The Lux Collective is set to spotlight a remote region in China with its new property, which marks the second addition to its Salt collection in Asia’s largest country.
The Mauritian hotel management company will open Salt of Anji in Q3 2025, following the launch of its ultra-luxury hotel Lux Chongzuo Guangxi by the Mingshi River in 2021.
Just two-and-half hours from Shanghai, the eco-resort is nestled in the lush Anji County and will offer 108 guest rooms across four storeys.
Guests will have the option of 14 twin and king-bed rooms, 91 studio rooms, and a presidential suite with mountain and bamboo forest views. There will also be stone villas inspired by European castles, all with three bedrooms and cosy living spaces.
The Lux Collective is keen to familiarise the UK trade with their product in China, a destination which has seen a 146% increased interest from advisors, according to recent research by Virtuoso.
“Western travellers often see China as less accessible, however Salt of Anji will act as a gateway for Western travellers by offering language accessibility, international food options, and unique cultural experiences in China, for guests to explore this region with peace of mind,” Paul Mulcahy, chief commercial officer at The Lux Collective told TTG Luxury.
Salt of Anji will also have a number of culinary options, including an all-day bakery serving locally sourced coffee and white tea-infused pastries. As for dinner, The Good Kitchen will be serving street food with local flavours, and there will be another restaurant serving a specialty cuisine. There will also be a Honey and Tea Lab, where guests can try tea brewed with honey from the brand’s very own beehives.
For spa facilities, the Salt Equilibrium offers a sauna, a jacuzzi and locally-inspired treatments. Guests can also book activities like kayaking and paragliding in the surrounding Huangpu River Tourism Area, as well as cultural experiences with the She community, one of the 55 official ethnic minorities of China.
“We’d like UK clients to know that The Lux Collective ensures visits are seamless from start to finish, with expert guides on hand for every guest, providing reassurance and local insights in a new destination,” Mulcahy says.
The Lux Collective is also promoting Salt of Anji, which is located in a relatively “less explored region of China,” as an ideal option for second-time tourists to the country.
“Anji is a new area to explore outside the big cities of China such as Shanghai and Beijing,” Mulcahy explained. “Through the emerging destination of Anji, with time we will create more brand awareness in the international market and pique more interest in seeing a new, less-explored region of China, meeting the locals, not just places with the award-winning Salt brand.”
The Lux Collective’s China expansion will continue with the launch of Lux* Guangzhou, scheduled for opening in Q3 2026. Located in Huangpu District, Guangzhou City, the luxury urban resort will include unobstructed skyline views, an art gallery, a spa and a variety of dining options.
Lux* will also be making its debut in Sharjah, the third most populous city in the UAE. The first property will be Lux* Al Jabal, a 45-key boutique resort overlooking the Gulf of Oman, followed by Lux* Al Bridi, which will offer 35 luxurious private retreats across a desert landscape.
Luxnam* Phu Quoc, Vietnam, will also open in Q2, 2026 as the country’s first overwater resort. Part of the Kien Giang Biosphere Reserve, the hotel has been inspired by the idyllic atoll resorts of the Maldives and will feature 116 villas.
