Avani Hotels & Resorts has opened its first resort in Cambodia – the Foreign Correspondents’ Club (FCC) Angkor in Siem Reap.
The new hotel, which has seen the restoration of a historic colonial building previously frequented by international journalists, features 80 rooms and suites decorated with vintage items such as typewriters and framed front pages of regional newspapers.
Other facilities at FCC Angkor include the restored Mansion restaurant and a newly built bar, called Scribe, plus the Visaya Spa, two outdoor saltwater pools and surrounding gardens.
As well as its journalistic heritage as the Foreign Correspondents’ Club, the property was also once a mansion for the city’s French colonial governor.
The new hotel is located a 20-minute drive from Siem Reap’s airport and is close to the city’s Royal Independence Gardens and Royal Residence.
FCC Angkor, which is being managed by Avani and is a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, will be joined by a sister property in Cambodia next year when FCC Phnom Penh is scheduled to open following renovation in November 2020.
