Bookings to Greece could see a boost thanks to the successful run of ITV’s The Durrells, a six-part drama set in Corfu, running on Sunday nights until May 8.
Based on Gerald Durrell’s trilogy of Corfu memoirs, including My Family and Other Animals, the series stars Keeley Hawes and is set on the island in 1935.
It was filmed on the island in locations including Danilia, the traditional village owned by Grecotel Hotels & Resorts, which has also featured in films such as James Bond’s For Your Eyes Only.
Danilia is available for exclusive events, weddings and tours and Grecotel has also launched a Durrells Package (which costs from £157pp) staying at the Grecotel Corfu Imperial hotel – where the stars of the show stayed during filming.
The package also includes breakfast, welcome bottle of wine and fruit basket, a private tour of Danilia and private transfer to the beach to see the "White House", the most spoken-about of the Durrells’ homes on the island over the years.
