Cornish Gems, a B Corp brand, has more than 180 luxury properties and wants “premium travel agents and boutique travel designers” to work with it.
Founder Nadia Macer-Wright said the brand “wants to work with trade partners and side-step the big giants” to access wealthy clients and to work in an ethical manner. She added she did not want to work with OTAs. “We want a luxury travel agent,” she said.
Cornish Gems was focused on forming long-term partnerships that connect it with “high net worth individuals, celebrities, personal assistants and executive clients across the UK and international markets”.
Macer-Wright said the B Corp ethos would also be a factor in selecting partners. “We want to make sure businesses do the right thing by Cornwall, paying the living wage for quality jobs. Tourism is a highly skilled profession and people forget that.”
Macer-Wright said she hoped there would be benefits for the county as a whole. “Collaboration and cohesion is what Cornwall needs. Visit Cornwall is in a bit of flux at the moment in my opinion. We need to address the challenges Cornwall faces.
“People need to have a better experience of Cornwall. They come at the height of the season when it’s too busy and they don’t come back for a couple of years. We want to spread that impact across more months so communities are not overwhelmed.”
Cornish Gems was founded in 2007, with properties ranging from those that sleep two to 20 guests and featuring some "eco-conscious" homes designed to offer a more sustainable holiday.
The company also offers concierge-style experiences, including private dining, spa treatments, and bespoke event hosting for weddings, corporate retreats and celebrations.
