“This is an exciting new project and, coupled with Tel Aviv’s presence as a major high-tech and business centre and the strong tourism market in the city, the project fits perfectly with our global clientele.”

Nobu Hotel Tel Aviv will be the company’s 17th property as it aims to open 20 hotels by 2020.

The brand, which was founded by Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Hollywood acting legend Robert De Niro and film producer Meir Teper, opened its latest property, Nobu Hotel Marbella, Spain, in March.

An opening date for the Tel Aviv hotel has not yet been announced but it will feature 38 rooms as well as a garden, fitness centre, pool, outdoor spaces and a private rooftop area.

Trevor Howell, Nobu Hospitality Group’s chief executive, said: “This is an exciting new project and, coupled with Tel Aviv’s presence as a major high-tech and business centre and the strong tourism market in the city, the project fits perfectly with our global clientele.”

Last year, the brand opened four hotels including its first UK location – Nobu Hotel Shoreditch in London – as well as Nobu Hotel Ibiza and two hotels in California.

Nobu hotels in Riyadh, Los Cabos, Chicago and Barcelona are due to open in 2018, and Toronto, Sao Paulo and Atlanta are also being planned.
