Aegean to launch Newcastle-Athens flights next summer

The North East is set to gain a new summer city break route next year, with Greece’s Aegean poised to take off from Newcastle airport in June 2023.

Aegean will fly twice-a-week to Greece’s capital Athens on Wednesdays and Sundays; flights are on sale now and will get under way from 14 June, with the service operating until 17 September.

Leon McQuaid, Newcastle’s director of aviation development, said the new Aegean service would increase choice for travellers in the North East and allow them to connect onwards from Athens to Greece’s islands and the Middle East.
