With more than 40 years’ combined industry experience, Joanne Mortimer and Karen Capstick have opened GL Travel Lounge, a new Midcounties Co-Operative independent, in Quedgeley.
It offers a broad range of holidays, from UK breaks and motorhome trips to safaris and cruises.
Mortimer and Capstick, who worked together at Thomson (now Tui), KT’z Travel and Midcounties Co-Operative, are initially running the shop themselves using social media to market the agency, named after the Gloucester postcode.
“We are quite old school; people are so caught up in selling they forget what the experience should be,” said Mortimer. “We sell with our heart.”
She added they had been “overwhelmed” with support.
