Karin Marin Reyes, owner of La Vida Travel, which was last year named TTG Top 50 Top Agency in Wales for a third time, was blown away by her visit to Ta’ Better Wine Estates during the four-day fam last June.
Marin Reyes, who had never sold Malta before the trip, said she became fascinated with the island’s history, its culture, food and wine, and took particular interest in the four-hectare estate.
Founded in 2002, Ta’ Betta is as a boutique winery with capacity to host weddings and other private events, as well as tasting experiences. "It’s very calm and very beautiful,” she explained. “It has a very big terrace and the service is amazing.”
So when a couple of clients came to her looking for a slightly less traditional wedding destination and venue, Marin Reyes’s mind immediately turned to Malta and Ta’ Betta.
"They fell in love with it,” she said. “I think it worked because they wanted to have a beautiful wedding venue but didn’t want to get married in a hotel."
Marin Reyes, whose business was also named TTG Top 50 Top Weddings and Honeymoons Agency last year, liaised with the winery over winter and in mid-March, she secured the booking for July 2026.
"We’ve got more than 50 guests booked and we will monitor the wedding’s progression all the way through,” she told TTG. “Whatever the couple might need, we’ll contact Ta’ Betta on their behalf.”
Marin Reyes was particularly pleased with the booking because the wine estate will also assist with the wedding preparations.
"Ta’ Betta has a wedding coordinator who will guide clients through the entire journey, and they also have us,” she continued. “So our clients have two sets of people helping them organise this wedding."
The focus for Marin Reyes has so far been on logistics, such as finding a hotel suitable for the entire wedding party that can cater for guests who bring children, for older friends and relatives, and those wishing to get out more and see the island.
She’s also had to marry up all of the guests’ schedules, with some people wanting to stay for up to 10 nights while others will only be in Malta for the wedding weekend.
"It’s another reason Malta worked because the flight doesn’t take long and transfers from one part of the island to another are short making it suitable for all guests,” she said.
Marin Reyes added Ta’ Betta had piqued other La Vida clients’ interest since the Champions trip, with another couple considering it for their nuptials.
"They haven’t booked yet, but they might as they want something small and intimate without any guests” she added. “They could have a wine tasting session before the ceremony and then dinner on the terrace, just the two of them – I think they could go for it."
La Vida Travel is once again in the running this year for TTG Top 50 Top Agency in Wales and Top Weddings and Honeymoons Agency. The ceremony will be held on the night of Thursday 24 April.
