Green, 20, beat hundreds of entrants from across the UK to win the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year award at a ceremony held on Thursday (January 18) at London’s Grosvenor House hotel.
She first joined Althams Travel in August 2013 as an apprentice and within four years has worked her way up to become assistant manager at her agency in Bolton.
Green has also achieved NVQ Diplomas in Travel Service Level 2 and 3, as well as an Apprenticeship Diploma in Team Leading. She is also now acting as a mentor for Altham’s new apprentice in the Bolton shop.
“I am so proud that my apprenticeship has led me along an amazing learning journey and given me opportunities to progress in my chosen career,” said Green.
“Listening to such inspirational achievements from other apprentices has really confirmed that apprenticeships are an opportunity open to all. I am so proud to have been a part of this amazing experience.”
The National Apprenticeship Awards has been running for 14 years and is designed to highlight the success of those who have started their careers through apprenticeships.
Sue Husband, director of the National Apprenticeship Service, said: “This year’s winners are all shining examples of how apprenticeships develop outstanding talent while enhancing the incredible work of employers.
“I am certain all of our winners have a bright future thanks to the enriching benefits that apprenticeships bring.”
