Luxury hotel brand Aman has appointed Greg Ward as the group’s new head of global sales and distribution.
Ward, who will be based at Aman’s office in the Swiss town of Zug, joins from Shangri-La, where he was vice-president of sales.
In his new role, Ward will oversee all Aman’s sales activities around the world, including members of the sales team based at the group’s 32 properties.
“Aman, with its intimate retreats and unassuming, warm hospitality, has always been a brand I have respected,” said Ward. “I am looking forward to steering our approach to global sales as the brand continues to gently evolve in new locations and markets.”
Aman opened its latest property, Aman Kyoto, in Japan earlier this month, with the New York property due to be unveiled next year.
The group is also due to open Camp Sarika by Amangiri in the Utah desert in April 2020, which will be located five minutes from the existing Amangiri property.
The new camp will offer 10 tented pavilions with their own private plunge pools, plus a main pavilion and restaurant, two spa suites and pool.
Ward, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the luxury hospitality, retail and private aviation industries, will work closely with Aman’s chief operating officer Roland Fasel to develop the group’s strategy.
“This is a fantastic opportunity with an amazing team complemented by the ongoing investment and future Aman growth plans, including Aman New York and many other developing destinations, where the emphasis is on the guest experience and experiential journey,” added Ward.
Ward has also held sales and marketing positions at other major hotel groups including Mandarin Oriental, Fairmont and Starwood.
