British Airways parent IAG has placed a firm order for a further 14 Airbus narrow-body aircraft.
The group, which also owns Aer Lingus, Iberia and Vueling, has taken up options – dating to August 2013 – on an extra 11 A320neos and three A321neos.
These come in addition to IAG’s decision in March to firm up an order for six A320neos and two A321neos.
The new aircraft will be delivered in 2024 and 2025 and will replace Airbus A320ceo aircraft in the group’s short-haul fleet.
IAG chief financial officer Nicholas Cadbury confirmed the decision in a note to the stock exchange on Thursday morning (30 June).
"These modern, more fuel-efficient aircraft will bring both cost efficiencies and environmental benefits to IAG airlines," said Cadbury.
