The "vast majority" of UK holidaymakers have travelled as planned in recent weeks despite reports of more "travel chaos", according to new research from Holiday Extras.

Budget-friendly travel – especially in the UK's favourite holiday destination, Spain – is set to be most popular

The firm, which offers extras such as airport parking, airport hotels and travel insurance, asked 1,000 UK air travellers between 24 and 26 June what disruptions, if any, they’d seen to their flights this year.

Almost all (93%) got away as planned and a third (30%) saw no disruptions at all. Half (50%) of respondents experienced queues that weren’t serious enough to miss their flight, whilst one in ten (11%) experienced some delays with their luggage.

Of all the travellers surveyed, only 4% cancelled their plans when their flight was cancelled, and only 4% missed their flight because of the queues.
