The move, which came into effect on Sunday (24 October), also allowed those fully inoculated against Covid-19 with a negative PCR test result to avoid a mandatory quarantine period. 

However, health officials at the Caribbean island’s Grantley Adams International airport may select fully vaccinated travellers at random for a rapid antigen test on arrival. 

In this case, travellers must take the free test as directed, await the results and then depart the airport using approved transportation.

Unvaccinated passengers will still need to show proof of a negative PCR test taken no more than three days prior to arrival in Barbados, undergo a five-day quarantine period at a pre-approved accommodation, take a second PCR test at an approved lab or testing hotel after the isolation at a cost to the traveller, and then continue to quarantine until the results are received.

They will also need to depart the airport using approved transportation only.
