Nicki Tempest-Mitchell, Barrhead Travel managing director, confirmed the Scottish agency can see "huge potential" for growing its retail footprint in Northern Ireland.
Its Newtownabbey store, Barrhead’s second Northern Irish branch, which opened in November 2024, achieved its sales target for 2025 by the end of the first quarter.
The agency has expanded its team, taking on an additional full-time travel consultant to meet ongoing demand, after initially investing £1.2 million in the branch.
Barrhead’s first Northern Irish branch opened in Belfast’s Victoria Square Shopping Centre in 2017.
Tempest-Mitchell said: “We see huge potential for growing our retail footprint in Northern Ireland. We’re finding that customers are very keen to book with reputable travel agents and the local demand for holidays is high."
Tempest-Mitchell continued: “We’re now focused on finalising our local team for the new store and we’ll reveal our location in the coming weeks. However, given the success we’re having in the region, we’re also open to hearing from experienced travel professionals in Northern Ireland who think a Barrhead Travel store could work for their local communities.”
She added: "Growth in regional uplift, as well as great connections to the US from Dublin, means that there is even more travel variety now available for Northern Irish holidaymakers and our teams have the opportunity to create bespoke trips for their customers."
In addition to its retail locations in Northern Ireland, it also operates a small call centre from Coleraine with homeworking positions.
