Data published on Wednesday (20 September) by travel recruitment special C&M Travel Recruitment show that August recorded the fourth-highest monthly total for new travel roles.
Over the past eight months, the number of travel vacancies has fluctuated, with peaks in January, May and July – during which there were increases of 391%, 131% and 46% respectively.
“August was a much busier month for new vacancies than we have seen in recent years,” said C&M managing director Barbara Kolosinska.
Despite the number of new roles available, the volume of candidates shrank in August by 18%, while going down by respectively 4%, 15% and 9% on 2022, 2021 and 2019 levels.
The 18% shrink is also the widest reported this year, especially if compared with March, which saw the highest volume of candidates since 2018.
August saw the number of job placements fall by 26% compared to July and a 58% dip from August last year, but Kolosinska is not worried as traditionally August is the second-slowest month after December for recruitment.
“Lots of exciting roles have newly been made available and this should lead to an increase in job placements in the next couple of months,” she added.
