Hong Kong-based Genting has appointed provisional liquidators after its German-based shipbuilding business collapsed last week.
Liquidators will oversee a restructuring of Genting, which also owns the Star Cruises and Dream Cruises brands.
Resignations of the chairman and chief executive, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, deputy chief executive and group president, Au Fook Yew (Colin Au), plus other key board members, mean only one executive director, Chan Kam Hing Chris, remains.
Crystal Cruises has suspended ocean and expedition sailings departing up to and on 29 April. The line’s river cruises have been suspended until the end of May.
The liquidators said they were in discussions with the company’s management team “to assess urgently the financial condition of the company and to identify potential remediation plans”.
