Delta Air Lines will launch a new Heathrow-Salt Lake City route in May as part of an expanded European summer schedule.
The daily route will get under way on 14 May, and will be followed by a new Stockholm-New York JFK option on 1 June. Delta will offer 143% more seats to Europe this summer compared with summer 2021. This includes up to 74 daily flights to 21 European destinations from 10 US departure points.
In total, the airline will operate more than 510 weekly flights to Europe at the summer peak, with Delta claiming to be offering more flights from New York JFK and Boston then any other carrier.
Combined with its partnerships with Air France, KLM and Virgin Atlantic, Delta customers will be able to access nearly 200 more destinations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India from 19 US cities.
“Delta has been focused on building back our network to give customers easy, convenient access to wherever they want to go, and we’re delivering on that promise with up to 74 daily flights to 21 European destinations from 10 US gateways this summer,” said Delta senior vice-president of networking planning, Joe Esposito.
“We have also accelerated improvements to our aircraft so that customers can enjoy a more comfortable journey, including offering more seats than ever before in Delta Premium Select, which will be available on nearly every flight to Europe in the months ahead."
From JFK, Delta will operate up to 27 daily flights, and will restart pre-Covid services to Zurich, Brussels, Edinburgh, Copenhagen and Prague. And from Boston, it will operate up to nine daily transatlantic services – an increase of nearly 5,000 seats each week compared with summer 2019.
Delta will serve Amsterdam three-times-daily from Atlanta, and London and Rome twice-daily from the Georgian state capital, while from its Midwest hubs in Detroit and Minneapolis, it will operate up to 14 daily non-stop flights to Amsterdam, London and Paris, and daily services to Frankfurt, Munich and Reykjavik.
Elsewhere, Delta will offer twice-daily Amsterdam services and daily London and Paris flights from Seattle, daily non-stop flights to Amsterdam, London and Paris from Salt Lake City, and a daily Portland-Amsterdam service.
